My Bio
Through visual to performance
I was born in Poznan, March 14, 1992.
I attended the Primary Music School of Henryk Wieniawski in Poznań, in the piano class for 6 years and 2 years of guitar, where I developed my musicality. However, I chose the next school because of learning foreign languages - English and French (although I also attended Latin, Spanish and Portuguese). In the Secondary School No. 2 of Charles de Gaulle, I could broadly develop my interests.
I was brought up in a family of art renovators, which shaped my interests and talents. On my website you can see previous and current works at www.julart.carbonmade.com.
I gained artistic experience while selling portraits made from nature on the streets of Poznań, Warsaw, Rome, Edinburgh and Amsterdam. During my studies in 2011-14, during holiday breaks, I was a volunteer of the Service Civil International organization on international trips (France, Italy), where I co-created artistic workshops for children. Participation in the spatial sculpture studio led by Professor Marcin Berdyszak, at the University of Art in Poznań made me aware of many phenomena related to the creation process. My interests began to focus on performance, using myself as an instrument.
In June 2014, I obtained a bachelor's degree in the lithography studio at the University of Arts in Poznań after three years of studying graphic art. The subject of my diploma thesis was "Gesture. Trace. The image". a gesture leading to the creation of a painting; a movement as a trance, which I experience while dancing. Thesis, theoretical and practical work, was an attempt to combine various fields - a traditional medium, which is a print of stone and dance, through which I interpreted the visual record. The presentation was a show before the commission. The recording of the defense of the diploma is available on the Internet at https://vimeo.com/98403923.
Visual image is important to me, although in recent years the body has become the dominant medium for me. The decisive inspiration to create not only manually was for me a participation in a youth project in July 2013 in Bröllin (a place between Berlin and Szczecin, where artists created a well-functioning commune around an old castle). During the workshop with Maria Müller I realized that I would like to work more in a team where I can exchange experiences. In Wrzesnia and in the open air in Slovakia, I organized voice workshops, inspired by the activities of the Wandering Laboratory of Paulina Miu Zielińska, in which I also sang. I completed three courses of Acting Techniques Intensive Seminar in February and August 2014 and in August 2015, conducted by Professor Grzegorz Ziółkowski, and in June this year also a year-long acting course at the Polish Theater in Poznań. From December 2013 to May 2014 I was also an stunt in this theater in the play "Master and Margaret" directed by Grigorij Lifanow.
I would like to take part in creating stage shows that are a combination of various media. I dream of creating a traveling theater. I am inspired by the work of Jerzy Grotowski's heritage, mainly The Workcenter of Thomas Richards and Mario Biagini in Pontedera. My dream roles are demonic, strong women, whose tools would be art.
I believe that the theater is a place of cooperation with inspiring people and that it offers the possibility of continuous development. Grzegorz Ziółkowski's workshops, performing with The Drunken Bedroom Theater and the graduation of The Academy of Theater Practices in Gardzienice were a great theater training. A longtime participation in dance workshops, eg. organized by The Polish Dance Theater, co-creation of the contemporary dance theater "CoInspiration" and dancing tango finally led me to The Academy of Theater Arts at The Department of Dance Theater in Bytom, where I study in the fourth year. From October 2019, I dance in the dance diploma entitled "CPH4" in the choreography of dr. Jacek Łumiński. From January 2019 I play in the acting diploma entitled "Hen. About the end" directed by Maciej Podstawny.
